Pump Types
Meeting the huge range of applications that we encounter on a daily basis is a challenge. As a supplier, it's critical to have a portfolio of products to effectively satisfy those applications.
Rotary Lobe Pumps
Rotary Lobe pumps are positive displacement pumps that utilize lobe-style rotors to move fluid. In industrial and food applications, these pumps are typically selected to handle either viscous fluids (up to 1,000,000 cps) or delicate fluids that would otherwise be damaged. Unlike a gear pump, the internal components of a rotary-lobe style pump do not contact each other, and the internal clearances are larger to allow product to pass through with minimal damage. These pumps are commonly used to transfer products like strawberries that must remain intact after being pumped.
Rotary lobes are also regularly used in pharmaceutical applications due to their gentle product handling, ease of cleanability, and the ability to be sterilized. Our sister division, Webb BioPharm routinely handles applications for high-purity pumps.
