Pump Types
Meeting the huge range of applications that we encounter on a daily basis is a challenge. As a supplier, it's critical to have a portfolio of products to effectively satisfy those applications.
Self-Priming Pump
For applications where suction lift is required or entrained air must be pumped, a self-priming pump is the correct choice. Self Priming pumps are available in several different styles all with one thing in common: they actually pull liquid into the pump. Some require the operator to complete an initial priming step while others are capable of true self-priming upon initial startup.
Common self-priming pumps include diaphragm-style pumps, vane pumps, flexible impeller pumps, liquid ring pumps, and specially modified centrifugal pumps. Some types are capable of lifting liquid up to 28' on the suction side of the pump, giving substantial flexibility for installation. Other styles such as the Gorman-Rupp RotoPrime are specially designed for volatile fuel applications to enable the pump to pass entrained air slugs which would otherwise bind up a conventional centrifugal pump.
